These are exciting times at the Liverpool Daily Post. The pace of change that is sweeping through the newspaper industry is simply bewildering.
As I write, we have just launched our new-look website. Regular visitors will have noticed the change right away, I am sure. If it is your first time here, then welcome.
Our internet experts have been toiling away behind the scenes to create a site that is radically new and different - much more user friendly, with a fresh, contemporary look and lots of great new features. Our old site was pretty good, but I think what we have now is fantastic.
Newspapers are still at the heart of what the Daily Post does, and we produce a regional daily paper six days a week that stands comparison against anything in the industry. In fact I'm off down to London at the end of the week to see if we are to pick up a gong at the UKPG Regional Press Awards, where we have been shortlisted for Newspaper of the Year. I'll keep you posted on that one!
But the Daily Post has survived and flourished for 152 years by constantly reinventing itself to stay at the cutting edge of the newspaper industry. The digital age is making the pace of change faster and more dynamic than ever, and this new-look site is an important step along the way of ensuring we keep providing you with the news and analysis you want, how, when and where you want it. Whether you want an in-depth news article on the latest city planning controversy, or a video report on a rock festival, we can deliver. We are no longer bound by the deadlines of a once-a-day newspaper. We can bring you the latest breaking news, online, as it happens, and follow developments on stories throughout the day. Still the same trusted, reliable Daily Post brand, but provided in new ways to reflect the changing needs of our readers. And what you see today is just the start. We have exciting plans for a lot more online development in the weeks and months ahead.
One of the really cool things about the internet is its interactivity. You can - and do - react instantly to stories online, giving us your views and opinions, and helping us to set the region's news agenda. This new site gives you even more opportunities to interact with us, and I hope you are going to take full advantage of it.
Why not start now, by dropping me a note to tell me what you think of our new-look online home? I would love to hear from you...

Nice look to the web site - cleaner, sharper, easier to read and to select which stories you want to read. Better use of pictures. All in all, the thumbs up. However, please don't forget with all the fancy bells and whistles that you can now introduce, that content is still king. It's the quality of the stories that matter. So don't lose your edge and your concern about the city. Finally - glad to see that Bob Scott has finally got the Cities on the Edge project off the ground, after about three years of doing nothing and with some considerable extra and expensive help. Finally.
